Prosthetics Outreach Foundation’s Senior Director of Engineering, Program Development and Evaluation, Raymond Pye, was invited to Sri Lanka to evaluate the local manufacturing of prosthetic feet. Mr. Pye visited clinical and manufacturing sites in the capital, Colombo. During his visit Pye made a presentation to over 30 prosthetic technologist, and clinical managers. The presentation was focused on an appropriate foot design and during this meeting a consensus was formed regarding the desirable features of prosthetic feet best suited to Sri Lanka’s amputee needs.
Mr. Pye was impressed with the quality of the workshops and the Sri Lanka School of Prosthetics and Orthotics. He feels confident that the quality of prosthetics and orthotics services will continue to improve in the years ahead.
